talented students with a strong academic background.
There are three named scholarships for upper class
students: the Kim Fiola Alpha Psi Omega, the Dr. James
W. Hawes and the Mah/Stone Scholarships. These are
awarded annually, in addition to other Arts Society
Scholarships.
The Department also offers 20 Work Study Scholarships
for students who participate in the Costume, Scenery,
Lighting, Sound or Box Office Management.
With Arts Society and Work Study Scholarships, over 55%
of our majors receive some form of financial support.
The Kim Fiola Alpha Psi Omega, Dr. James W.
Hawes and Mah/Stone Scholarships are awarded to
outstanding upper class (sophomore and above) theatre
and cinema majors who demonstrate a high commitment to the
theatrical and cinematic arts through scholarship and
participation in departmental productions and
activities. While the amount of the awards for these
scholarships vary, last year we were able to award
$1,600 to each of our scholarship recipients. Upper
class students who would like more information on how to
be considered for these scholarships should contact the
Chair of the
Scholarship Committee.
The Nancy Necessary Pridemore and GeorgAnne

presentation of an audition or portfolio to be eligible
to compete. This scholarship will include a $2,000 award
toward tuition. Pridemore Scholars who maintain a

continue to demonstrate an outstanding level of
achievement as a Radford University theatre and cinema major will

Upper class (sophomore and above) theatre and cinema majors may also compete for departmental Arts
Society scholarships by demonstrating a high commitment
to the theatrical and cinematic arts through scholarship
and participation in departmental productions and
activities. Last year we were able to award $1000
scholarships to help seven theatre and cinema majors meet their
academic goals. Upper class students who would like more
information on how to be considered for these
scholarships should contact the
Chair of the
Scholarship Committee.
The department offers 20 Work Study Scholarships each
year. These range from working on stage to providing
support for the scenic, lighting, sound, box office and
front of house areas. Upper class students who would
like more information on how to be considered for these
scholarships should contact the Technical Director of
the Department of Theatre and Cinema.
There are many opportunities for students at Radford
University to get financial help to meet their academic
goals. We encourage our students to contact the RU

the Department of Theatre and Cinematic Arts and the RU
Office of Financial Aid for other possibilities.
