Golden Globe and two-time Emmy winner Sally Struthers is the visiting guest artist for Radford University’s Department of Theatre and Cinema production of Lanford Wilson’s Fifth of July.  Struthers plays the role of eccentric Aunt Sally Friedman.

Struthers played Gloria in the 1970s sitcom “All in the Family” and now has a recurring role in WB TV’s “Gilmore Girls.” She plays the nosy neighbor who is occasionally seen peeking through a window. Struthers also plays Mark Addy’s mother in the CBS show “Still Standing.”

Appearing in theatrical productions over the past 20 years, Struthers had a three-year run with the Tommy Tune production of Grease. Other credits include Broadway productions of the female version of The Odd Couple, Wally’s Café and Annie. Struthers has appeared in several motion pictures, including Five Easy Pieces with Jack Nicholson and The Getaway with Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw. She was named the 2004 Best Actress by the Los Angeles Director Theatre Awards for her role as Louise Seger in Always, Patsy Cline and won the 2003 Ovation Award as Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Agnes Gooch in Mame.

Struthers said, “I just feel energized when I am around young, talented people. So it’s always fun to do that as a switchout from highly trained professional older people who are also great, but there is something about these kids that’s amazing.”
