This is Mr. Guest’s third year as a member of the Theatre and Cinema Division of the School of Dance and Theatre. His teaching focus is on performance courses with a special interest in stage combat and comic technique. He is also a professional actor and fight choreographer. Tony directing credits at RU include the world premiere of Trust: One Story of Pocahontas and Captain John Smith, The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse, and Lend Me A Tenor. He has also fight directed/choreographed for the above productions as well as The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged directed by colleague Jennifer Juul. He is also the director of The Appalachia Theatre Project (a community outreach program) and faculty advisor to the Radford University Improv Club. Mr. Guest recently attended a two week intensive at the Celebration Barn Theatre in New Paris, ME where he studied clowning with Avner Eisenberg and presented at The Southeastern Theatre Conference (Comic Technique; Instructive or Instinctive?).

Mr. Guest is also a local profession actor and can be seen on multiple commercials (most notable Hometown Bank and Advance Auto) and print advertisements.

Tony comes to Radford after completing four years as the Director of Theatre at Aquinas College (Grand Rapids, MI) where he directed Our Town, The Nerd, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Marvin’s Room, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream and presented numerous workshops at local high school and college theatre festivals; most notably the American College Theatre Festival (ACTF: Region III). He founded The Union Theatre Company in the summer 2005 in Frankenmuth MI. Before his tenure at Aquinas College, Mr. Guest was an adjunct professor at his alma mater, The University of Michigan- Flint. He holds a MFA in Acting and Directing from the University of Missouri - Kansas City (Professional Actor Training Company) and a BS in Biology from The University of Michigan-Flint.

Mr. Guest called New York City home for two years where he directed (Rumors at Fordham University) and acted both on stage (Macduff in Expanded Arts production of Macbeth) and on camera (Stanley Sheff in Guiding Light on CBS). Tony has performed in numerous regional theatres including the Missouri Repertory Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Unicorn Theatre (Drama Desk Award nomination for best supporting actor in The Judas Kiss), Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, and the Tony Award winning season at the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Tony has choreographed fights for other theatres including Mill Mountain Theatre (Roanoke, VA), Community Circle Theatre (Grand Rapids, MI), The University of Michigan-Flint, and Aquinas College. He received a Grand Award for producing and fight choreographing Pirates of Penzance at Aquinas College/Cornerstone University.

Tony is a member of the Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), The Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), and The Virginia Theatre Association (VTA).

He shares his love and his life with his wife Beth and three children Lucas, Andrew and Isabella.
