Theatre & Cinema majors at
Radford University work in modern, state-of-the-art
facilities, comparable to professional theatres
throughout the nation. All teaching and production
activities are housed in the Silverman Fine Arts Center,
within Porterfield Hall.
The 490-seat Pridemore Playhouse has a 40-foot
proscenium opening, computerized lighting control, a
hydraulically-controlled orchestra pit and thrust stage,
a 68-foot stage house with full counter-weight system,
fully equipped scene and costume studios, sound lab, a
student computer room equipped with CAD software, and
storage areas.
The Silverman Fine Arts Center also contains a “black
box” studio theatre with a L’Air sprung floor and
flexible seating and lighting arrangements to allow for
ample variation and experimentation in staging.
