2006
The Bat is a silent classic film that will be
presented with an original score by Matt Marshall
which will be played by him and his "Reel Music
Ensemble" which will feature Radford University
students Meryl Barns on violin, Beth Radovsky on
cello, Abby Field on bassoon with Matt leading the
ensemble from his piano.

The Bat is one of the earliest films in the old
spooky house genre's complete with dark hallways,
secret passages and a mysterious master criminal.
The film is said to have been a great influence on
Bob Kane with he created Gotham City's Batman. Is it
me or is there a bit of a nod to the mask used by
the Bat from the one used by Donnie Darko's Rabbit?
For it's time The Bat is a remarkable achievement
for scenic design and special effects.

The main complaint
about the video releases have been the terrible
sound tracks, well with Matt Marshall's new score
this problem will be solved. Long thought to be a
lost film never to be seen again, Roland West's The
Bat returns to the silver screen Wednesday October
18, 2006 at 7pm in the Pridemore playhouse.
Admission is free but tickets will be required which
may be picked up at the box office starting Monday
the 16th.
